Villa Aldobrandini is the most representative among the Ville Tuscolane. Also known as Belvedere for its charming location overlloking the whole valley up to Rome, it was built on the order of Pope Clemente VIII’s between the late of 16th and early 17th. The Villa was rebuilt in its current layout by Giacomo della Porta, and then completed By Carlo Maderno, with the famous Teatro delle Acque (Water’s theater), and Giovanni Fontana.
Inside there are paintings of Mannerist and Baroque artists like Zuccari brothers, Cavalier d’Arpino and Domenichino (Ninpheum hall). Outside there is a monumental gate of the 18th century by Bizzoccheri.
Although the inside of the Villa can't be visited (it’s partly the Aldobrandini family residence and partly reserved for weddings and private parties), its outside garden and the Water’s Theater can be seen only on weekdays through a free pass that can be requested at the local tourist office (IAT) located in Piazza Roma.

Another interesting site to visit, which belonged to the Aldobrandini family, is the venue comprising the historic stables, also known as the “Frascatino” (small Frascati). The “Scuderie Aldobrandini”, which have been restored by architect Maximilian Fuksas in 2000, display some archeological finds from Tusculum (an ancient town of Roman descent). In the museum you can appreciate scale models (1:200) of the Tuscolane Villas. The Auditorium, located on the first floor, hosts concerts and other major cultural events.
